The global automatic door industry is undergoing a new wave of technological upgrades. Since 2024, several international giants have launched groundbreaking innovations:
- ASSA ABLOY has partnered with Boston Dynamics to launch an intelligent access system that enables autonomous robot passage, achieving seamless coordination between doors, robots, and cloud systems.
- NABCO introduced the NATRUS+e.W system, which combines image recognition with infrared sensing. It expands detection range by 40% and enables zero-delay, contactless access.
- Horton Automatics, in collaboration with refrigeration specialist Anthony, released a double-sensing “beer cave” automatic glass door tailored for cold chain retail scenarios, supporting high-frequency, two-way access.
Industry analysts believe these technologies are propelling automatic glass doors from functional products to intelligent building nodes, which are expected to integrate deeply with building automation systems (BAS), fire safety systems, and carbon emission monitoring platforms, becoming essential infrastructure in future smart buildings.
December 3, 2024 | Product Technology
ASSA ABLOY Automatic Door Systems Co., Ltd. has officially been granted a patent for its innovative “corner bracket” (Patent No. CN114729555B). Featuring advanced materials and AI algorithms, the component dynamically adjusts force distribution based on external conditions such as wind and foot traffic, delivering the following benefits:
Improved wind resistance rating;
Reduced vibration and operational noise;
Extended product lifespan by 15–20%.
The new bracket is compatible with sliding, revolving, and balanced doors, and has entered production in ASSA ABLOY’s China facility, with mass rollout expected in Q1 2025.
June 9, 2023 | Market Application
BEA has announced that its LZR® FLATSCAN laser sensor has surpassed 100,000 units sold in the Asian market. Widely applied in swing doors, hermetically sealed medical doors, and cold-chain logistics passages, the sensor offers key advantages:
No false alarms from floor moisture or carpet shadows;
Detection blind spots under 5 cm, enhancing safety for children and wheelchair users;
15-minute fast installation, with no need for floor modifications.
At Jakarta International Airport in Indonesia, the solution enables high-efficiency self-service access at 15–25 seconds per person.
