The OUTUS ORD180 concealed sliding door system eliminated wobble, rattling, and all 8 monthly maintenance calls at a Paris Champs-Élysées luxury flagship — running 7 months without a single failure while handling 150 kg frameless glass doors silently.
Project Overview
| Project | Paris Champs-Élysées Luxury Flagship Frameless Door Upgrade |
| Location | Paris, France |
| Completion | September 2024 |
| Project Lead | Pierre Dubois, Senior Retail Infrastructure Engineer (8+ years in luxury store entrance design) |
The Problem
A luxury fashion brand's Paris flagship was renovating its ground-floor entrance to a full-glass, frameless storefront. The concept required the door to be invisible — no metal frame, no visible track, no hardware. The previous standard sliding system had visible top-track hardware that clashed with the design brief, and the 150 kg glass door leaves caused the system to wobble and rattle every time they moved.
The noise and movement were generating complaints from in-store staff and customers. Maintenance was being called 8 times per month. Pierre's assessment also identified a security gap: the standard sliding door mechanism could be forced open with approximately 80 kg of lateral pressure — unacceptable for a store carrying high-value luxury goods.
What OUTUS Did
The ORD180 uses a ceiling-recessed track with a profile width of ≤5 cm — invisible once the ceiling finish is applied. A self-balancing floor guide eliminates the lateral play that causes wobble without using a floor-mounted track that would break the all-glass visual. Vibration-dampening strips on the track and door edges eliminate rattling. The door leaf load capacity was specified at 150 kg for this project.
The anti-break-in function was addressed by upgrading the internal locking mechanism to a reinforced load-bearing design that resists forced entry at the force levels relevant for a retail environment. The full installation — including ceiling track routing — was completed overnight to avoid disrupting the store opening hours.
Results After 7 Months
Zero wobble. Zero noise complaints. Zero security breaches. Maintenance calls dropped from 8 per month to 1 per month — a 87.5% reduction in callout frequency, cutting technician hours by 30%. Customer feedback surveys in-store recorded 98% positive responses to the entrance experience, specifically citing the "invisible door" effect. The store owner: "For the first time, the entrance works as a design feature rather than a problem we manage."
Standard System vs. OUTUS ORD180
| Standard Sliding Door | OUTUS ORD180 Concealed System | |
| Max Panel Load | 100 kg (wobble above 80 kg) | 150 kg, stable — no wobble |

| Track Visibility | Exposed rail and fittings | Fully recessed — invisible |
| Maintenance Calls/Month | 8 | 1 |
| Anti-Forced-Entry | Basic — pryable | Reinforced load-bearing lock |
| Design Compatibility | Requires visible frame | Frameless glass — no visible hardware |

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Our ceiling is concrete — can the concealed track still be installed without major structural work?
A: Yes. For concrete ceilings we use a channel-cut installation method. The track channel is typically 55 mm wide × 40 mm deep. Installation takes one evening and does not require the ceiling to be removed or replaced. We include ceiling repair and finish in the project scope.
Q: We have doors heavier than 150 kg — is there a higher-capacity version?
A: Yes. The ORD180 range extends to 200 kg per leaf in a reinforced configuration. Please provide the door leaf weight and dimensions when you contact us so we can specify the correct variant.
Q: What anti-theft or anti-pry standard does the locking mechanism meet?
A: The reinforced lock is rated to resist forced lateral entry at standard retail intrusion force levels. For high-security applications (jewellery, private banking), we have a vault-rated lock upgrade available. Please specify your security requirement when requesting a quote.
Q: How long does the vibration-dampening strip last before replacement?
A: The strip is made from high-durability rubber rated for 5+ years at 2,000 cycles per day. Replacement takes under one hour and does not require the door to be removed from the track.
